American stereotypes..

I don't blame the show for having them because i have no doubt that if it was the other way around we'd mess up too but I shall voice my complaint! (lol) his blonde friend acts so ridiculously high and stupid and his acting is odd (why couldn't they find a better white guy to play him? they are in CA after all.) and of course there's the stereotypical abusive boyfriend.In reality I hated that they included him because I worry about whether korean people really think marrying/dating an american would be like that.I hope not.though I know that this could happen especially since many women try to escape from their lives in their country to come to america.alot of times by marrying someone they don't know.
ANYWAYS; the music was awesome and I can tell they put a lot of money towards this judging by the quality of the images and surroundings. I also was happy to see park shin hye's acting skills and I think she looks lovely:) and of course Min hyuk is adorbs! I want to see more of him :3

So far so good, as I must say. I thought it would be bad because people have been labeling this as an overrated drama. It was a decent first episode.
The only thing that I would hate is the fact that Eun Sang left her mother and went to America (and didn't she even state that she would want to live in America for good). I know it's necessary for the plot so that she and Tan will meet. But I felt bad for the mother. I wish they made a different reason and have it look like she is not leaving her mother or something like that.

I cried.

I really feel pity for both main characters, that's why i'm shipping them so much, cuz they both will cure they scars when they fall in love.(^^)

Interesting start

An interesting start to a drama with so much hype around it. Lee Min Ho's english is fine, but the American actors they've got to play the side characters are not. It's not fine, because, come on- you are filming in the US and is it too much to ask for Lee Min Ho's friend to be played by an American who can also act?

Although their English isn't that good for their roles (except for Eun Sang's role because that's somehow logical) , I think this drama is going to be one of the best dramas.
Anyway the episode was enjoyable ?

Oh The Horror, Oh The English

Overall it was a decent episode that made me want to watch more but it was far from perfect. What the heck was up with Lee Min Ho's English? He's lived in America for years but his English needed subtitles. And what was with the American actors? Having horrible white actors in Korea is understandable but not when you're actually filming in America.

Maybe it's because I only watched 20 minutes..

But so far, so bad. The storyline is the usual, no shock there. And the protagonists.. eh.. Park Shinhye's character is so weird. One moment she's sassing up the place, the next she's crying. And why is she so mean to her mom? Lee Minho only appeared for five minutes, and I did not like his suffering personality. Krystal only screamed. That other girl, Woobin's stepsister, she was so-so. Woobin, on the other hand, is really a good actor. This is my first time watching him act, and I was impressed. And while Minhyuk is not the best actor out there, his character is really likable. I might only watch this show because of the last two. Plus, as I mentioned, I only lasted 20 minutes so it may not be that bad..

Min Ho Engrish

Many people said that Lee Min Ho Engrish(English) is funny, but I thought it's was adorable. He is not the only person who speaks English awkwardly. Many Kpop singer, speak ENGRISH like him. It's fun LOVE IT.

Off to a pretty good start

I can't complain, it was a pretty good first episode. I think the acting,except for American's, is great. The look and feel is good, storyline seems good, NOT a BoF story :) SO MANY of my favorite actors/actresses and I get to hear LMH's voice again, all is right with the world.

My favorite scene was when she met her sister. Min Ho's look and her crying was just.. i won't deny the chemistry between those two. It's so perfect!!

it wasn't that good!

I expected waaay much better. But i cannot judge now, the drama have just started. For a beginning, however, i expected much much better especially with Lee Min Hw as a main role.
Nevertheless, i did enjoy the drama, and I really really really loved Rachel Yoo's style (AMAZING!!) i also had these exciting happy feelings when you start a drama, so I'm looking forward to it.

Well, even though I watched one episode I can say that this is going to be fantastic drama (it was obvious from the start). Good choice of actors,plot is similar to 'Gossip Girl' and BOF, but way better than that. :D Park Shin Hye is such a great actress and Lee Min Ho acting is perfect. I can't wait till next week and episode :D

Everyone, go back to Korea!

Park Shin Hye is a fantastic actress! She had crying twice in the first episode. Love her as Eun Sang. She's more mature than the other roles I'm used to seeing her in. I like how she works hard, and I really feel for her anger towards her pathetic sister.
The Americans are.. not lovable. I'm sure that's the point; making the contrast. But there's a reason I deviate to Asian dramas rather than American ones, and it does irritate me to see the beach bums so prominent. Hearing Tan and Eun Sang banter in Korean was a breath of fresh air after the hideous Americans. :P
I'm a little confused by all the connections in this drama so far, but I'm sure after another episode or two, everything will start to make sense.
I hate the bully. His eyebrows are creepy and he's a jerk.
Oh.. and DUH! Choi Jin Hyuk was in this really early on, so thank you, director/writer! I will melt under his gaze and the set of his manly jaw. :D

For now it good

I really enjoyed the first episode. Kim Tan live in California for 3 years his english should be good, but is not. That okay, it didn't really bother me, but Park Shin Hye character is such a candy. She cries a lot and I didn't like what she did to her mom. Her sister is so mean though! This drama remind me of Gossip Girl. Kim Tan fiancee remind me of Blaird Waldorf. I can't wait until school start to see what happen.

Starts with a bang.!!

It is rarely that a first ep pulls me in as this one did. this is the reason it has been a long time since I watched on-air dramas.
Was so sure that it wud be only style nd a little substance but still was the priority on my to-watch list bcoz of d cast nd teen background. My resolve to watch it after a few episodes had been subbed as soon as it aired.. but M SO HAPPY TO SEE IT TURN OUT SO GR8 FROM THE START ITSELF!
I can see many parallel plots with good stroyline, sizzling chemistry btwn the actors and thankfully, no over-the-top bickering as is usually shown. seems a sensible good paced romance will develop. :)

No dissappointment ^__^

Ok, there were so many expectations for 'Heirs' and after watching this episode, I can confidently say: It's been a long time since I liked a first episode this much^^
The pace is good, I got used to the (sometimes strange) English and I can see a good chemistry between the leads..well, if 'Heirs' stays like this then I think there will be no dissappointments for me^^

Good..for a first episode

I liked this episode a lot. The first half was kind of slow but as soon as things move to LA it gets better. I'm already loving the chemistry between LMH and PSH, and I hope I will keep loving it till the end.
The one thing that killed this episode for me were the parts spoken in English. Or should I say Engrish, LMH's english is so bad that I actually couldn't understand him without the subs. I think that if they're actually making the effort of filming in a foreign country, they should at least teach the actors the language properly so that it sounds believable.
Apart from that, I liked everything, I'm really liking PSH's character so far and I hope the drama wont disappoint me.

Great eye-candy, beautiful sets, english..meh

Already, I am salivating over the golden beaches of california, the wardrobes of the well-to-do, and the rich colours so artfully employed in like every other shot.
Park Shin Hye had to sob quite a bit in this episode, and I felt sorry for her. The girl is a credible actress (just look at her MV's) but the writers are making her life too hard-up and sorrowful. I just wanted her to cheer up^^ (Good news, looks like it will in the next ep! Unleash that smile, girl.)
Lee Min Ho is that prodigal son banished to the US, in the pretense of 'studying.' His english is shockingly bad for a kid meant to have grown up there, but I genuinely appreciated his efforts, and he made me laugh^^
Min Hyuk is playing Park Shin Hye's BFF back in Korea. Besides - I already see a theme of bullying cropping up with that chaebol son (you know..meany guts), so I see a BOF parallel there.
I want to drown in this drama. It's so beautiful!

A predictable yet fun start!

I'd been waiting very impatiently for this drama to start! Now that it has I grabbed the first opportunity I could to watch it. I was really curious to know how this drama was going to be. :D
This review is more like a summary. Pardon me if this seems inconsistent with the story because my Korean's not that great and yet I tried to understand very hard!
Everything in the background is shiny and yet we see Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) looking out the window with a sad, brooding expression within the first few minutes. Just the beginning we already know how he is unloved in this world. He is surrounded by so many people and yet is lonely. Guess what else I learnt about his character? He loves surfing. ROFL.
Park Shin Hye's character Eun Sang seems to me like a damsel in distress. Yes, her life is sort of sad with a mute mother, a bad job and sister who has been MIA for so long. Still I somehow wished this time Park Shin Hye wouldn't be stuck in the naive, crying girl role but alas! Anyway, she goes alone to California, a completely foreign land in hope to meet her sister. She's looking for her sister but when she reaches the doorstep of the address she has she finds a White woman instead in the house instead of her sister. Now she's in California and has just found how her sister's been lying about her whereabouts. What's worse is that her sister actually seems to be a bad person and takes away all her money upon meeting her! Imagine! Then she breaks down crying in front of everyone (Kim Tan in particular).
Our damaged, lonely-without-a-love-in-the-world Kim Tan empathizes with her and helps her out. Then a couple of comic scenarios take place. The rest is all typical cliche situations. The girl is alone without money so the guy helps her. We've all seen that happen. Kim Tan also has a mean fiancee who already hates Eun Sang so it's safe to guess there will be lots of trouble later. Even the mother-in-law trouble would be there, surely. *sigh*
What's funnier is that Eun Sang gets into stupid trouble and her passport is taken away. So guess what? Now she'll stay in California! Oh la la la! Time for some romance. :P
However, since this is the beginning I'm hoping there will be some good romantic moments on the show. This love story feels a bit different since they both seem like people burdened with grief and will only seek comfort with each other.
The rest of the cast didn't make an impact on me yet. Kim Tan's older brother seems to be cold and very much into his business (I hope there won't be much office politics later on!). Krystal's acting in those two minutes was pretty bad. However I loved Min Hyuk. He looked really handsome. :D
Another thing I want to say is that the American extras are all pretty bad actors. They are all over-acting and Kim Tan's friend is super annoying. He seems to be like a bad American stereotype. Hell! Even the Black cop was a bad stereotype. Everything seems to be badly stereotyped. Lee Min Ho's Engrish was hard to understand at times too. LOL.
Everything in this show reminds me more of 90210 and The OC than Gossip Girl (except Kim Tan's fiancee who reminds me of Blair Waldorf). Right now I can't guess when they'll all go to school. It feels like the summer vacation right now. Please dear writer, do not make Park Shin Hye cry any more! Poor girl.
The preview of the second episode is funny and looks like there's some cheesy romantic moments. Can't wait! :D Edit this Page
